THE PIPES OF WAR

Over the coming days I will be adding examples of insignia as used by Pipers to the on-line shop.

Piper’s in the Scottish Regiments, including those from the former British Empire and especially Canada, have taken on a most special significance from very early battles, none more so than the magnificent displays throughout the first World War.

From Seton & Grant’s book "THE PIPES OF WAR" I have included the comment by Field Marshall Haig Written by him on 6th December 1918. "Wherever Scottish troops have fought, the sound of the pipes has been heard, speaking to us of our beloved native land, bringing back to our memories the proud traditions of our race, and stimulating our spirits to fresh efforts in the cause of freedom." The cry of "The lament" over our fallen heroes has reminded us of the undying spirit of the Scottish race, and the sacredness of our cause. The pipers of Scotland may well be proud of the part they have played in this war. In the heat of battle, by the lonely grave, and during the long hours of waiting, they have called to us to show ourselves worthy of the land to which we belong. Many have fallen in the fight for liberty, but their memories remain. Their fame will inspire others to learn the pipes, and keep alive their music in the land of the Gael.

This then is by way of a tribute to all of these most gallant of soldiers.

Welcome to our web site

We specialise in authentic, often very rare items of Scottish Regimental Insignia, such as Plaid Brooches, Shoulder Belt Plates, Sporrans, Dirks, Sgian Dubh (Skean Dhu) and hallmarked silver Glengarry Badges.

We also deal in sweetheart brooches and top quality Regimental brooches, medals and other associated militaria. Our stock is regularly updated, it is, however, impossible, to meet the needs of even the most modest collector entirely from stock and to this end we are pleased to source specific items of interest or rarity, especially to the Scottish Regiments.

You can find us at the major Militaria fairs within the UK, whilst our major retail outlet is our on-line shop. We still maintain a small interest in the little shop in Doune (which incidentally was used as the HQ for the local Home Guard in WW2) and arrangements can be made to meet you there by appointment, should you so wish.

Whatever your requirements, we will be more than pleased to assist and welcome your enquiry.

Bluebell Militaria also buys militaria from single items to collections specialising in the Scottish Regiments
