The 91st Argyllshire Highlanders Piper's/Sergeants silver Plaid brooch
A superb example of this very rare brooch,comprising; a silver quoit of 4 inches in diameter bearing incised thistles on each side and with the numerals"XCI" above whilst below is a scroll inscribed "HIGHLANDERS".
To the rear a strong original pin and with the maker's mark impressed"MARSHALL & SONS 87 George Street Edinburgh"
This is a very early item being introduced in 1863 and only worn up until 1872.
