The 92nd(Gordon Highlanders) Regiment of Foot Off's Dirk belt clasp
An extremely early piece of superb insignia to this wonderful old Regiment. I haven't come across this one before and methinks circa 1823- 40 might be close.
A 2.5 ins wide by 2.2ins highly burnished gilt rectangular plate.
To the centre the numerals"XC11" between 2 large thistles and with the sphinx on a tablet inscribed"EGYPT".
At the bottom a scroll inscribed"WATERLOO" and one at the top inscribed"PENINSULA"
To the rear 3 brass pins secure the front pieces.
Fixed loop is present,adjoining loop absent.
