William Sutherland Urquart(to give him his full name) was born in Sheffield in 1874 but very soon afterwards he moved up to Forres as a little boy with his parents(dad also William)
Following his marriage and the creation of the Territorial army in 1908,Wm retired to get on with his career as a solicitor only to re enlist on the outbreak of war in 1914 with the rank of Captain in the Sherwood Foresters ,promoted Major in 1916 He stayed with his Battalion throughout the war. At the end of the war his unit was disbanded and he retired with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.
I wouldn't know yet whether he served on in some role with the TA.
