The 42nd (Highland) Regiment Officer's Gilt feather bonnet badge.
This badge was in service around 1840,it is unusual in that it is not voided but I have had others similar in the past.It resembles best the one in Bloomers 2 page 65 middle left.
It is an Officer's badge and the Gilt is exquisite still. I will let the pictures speak for themselves.
